Diagnostic imaging methods

In some cases, a determination of the causes of angioedema may require data obtained from diagnostic imaging. Available methods include:
Ultrasound for evaluation of swellings in the

  • Chest
  • Neck
  • Abdomen
  • Skin

Computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for detailed assessment of

  • Swelling in the abdominal organs
  • Collection of free fluid in the abdominal cavity (ascites)
  • Skin swellings
